Each Great Old One has its own special ability plus its own unique Spellbook, which is earned separately from your own. Both the ability and the Spellbook are highly useful. These beings are not just new adjuncts to your Factions - each Great Old One opens up new strategic possibilities, and bumps up your game in a vigorous way.
Eihort brings forth the Brood, rupturing your own Cultists and replacing them with his repulsive spawn. At such costs you gain a great amount of Power and combat strength, as the Brood spreads across the globe to your enemies' dismay.
Gla'aki lets you earn Power for Cultists who are dead! And eventually with his infamous Green Decay Spellbook he causes you to earn Elder Signs rather than Power from Captured Cultists.
The Insects from Shaggai are Monsters, not a Great Old One, and follow normal Monster rules. They parasitically take control of other players' Cultists and force them to obey your will.
